Some history to Bernt Kvilaas film collection:
Dad´s films was stored away for a long time and after Bernt *my dad* past away in 1993
The plans was to have them converted to VHS after one of his films "I Dærgafjellets Skygge" became of some interest to a Cinema in Nord-Trøndelag.
But that film was the only one that ever got converted.
So I felt it was time to do a rescue job to restore the large collection of my dad´s 8mm & 16mm films before it would be too late. So these last few years (2009 - and ongoing) I started a long and time consuming process to clean, convert and digitalising them all to a HD DVD. The reels starts all the way back to early 1950´s in Røyrvik, Nord-Trøndelag all the way up through the time with the "HV" Military and the training to become a sailor up until he actually worked on ships.
- The start of "Joma Gruver,"
- Worker as a "Tree Logger" in Røyrvik & Namsskogan, Nord-Trøndelag,
- River Logging in the river Namsen, Nord-Trøndelag,
- Building of the famous wooden dams in the River Namsen, Nord-Trøndelag,
- Training to become a sailor at "Askaas, Grimstad - Handels Flåten" in 1959,
- To his travels around the world, before settling down in Ireland Myrtleville, Crosshaven, Co. Cork in 1963 after he met his future wife (Mum) Sheila Julia O'Sullivan from 100 Evergreen Road, Cork City. They then moved to Helle, Norway in 1972
- Back again in Norway, dad kept on filming their new life style as mentioned up above.
So I came up with an idea of making them in to a collection of DVD's from all of his films.
Already I have manage to finalise 3 DVD's:
"Film Arkivet Volume 1", "Film Arkivet Volume 2" & "Dærgafjellets Skygge" as well as a history film called "Kvilaasen til Skaanali 1919 - 2009" Its about our family history Kvilaas and their big move from the farm Kvilaasen in Trones, Namsskogan to the new farm Skaanali in Skaanalia, Røyrvik.
